2020 sucks!! šŸ‘ŽšŸ¾

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

I saw this meme and I just about died laughing. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ And then I wanted to cry all at the same time. šŸ˜ŖšŸ˜ŖšŸ˜‚šŸ˜ŖšŸ˜‚

This reference is from the movie, Queen and Slim. For all of you who haven't seen the movie. First off, shame on you!!! Lol (JK šŸ˜‰). But forreal, go watch the movie; it is amazing.

And then afterwards come back and look at this meme and it will make so much sense. (I'm done getting off on a tangent).

Ok guys, so 2020 has been off to a very shaky start but I still believe that our God is good and that there is going to be a beautiful finish to this year.

So don't look at my blog title and say this is BS and click next. Actually read it. I think it'll benefit ya!

During church service today (this was back in Jan y'all, my church ain't out here breaking laws okay, lol) we were singing worship songs that stated "Lord be glorified," "I live for you," and "I give you all the praise." I had a serious heart check as I was singing. And God spoke to me, "obedience is not just in the big things, the little things matter too!"Ā

A lot of times I have the notion that if I don't commit the "big sins:"Ā not having sex, not skipping out on church on Sunday, hugging folks, well... then I'm all good. But God reminds me that thatĀ small whisper, where He tells me to do something matters too.Ā "

Don't ask that question; Jenn, don't give them that clap back attitude that they deserve;Ā daughter get up and come before me in prayer" (even when it's the butt crack of dawn and I don't feel like getting up at 3 am); Jenn, be consistent with the assignment I've given you."

To be honest with you all, I sometimes listen to God with these seemingly small instructions and I sometimes don't. Well my friends, disobedience is disobedience. Doesn't matter how big our how little. Because the thing is, if God cannot trust you with the little things, how can He then trust you with the big things?Ā

Ooo ouch!

I'm reminded of a story of a very famousĀ king in the Bible. The Israelites demanded they have a king to reign over them. So God gave them King Saul. Unfortunately because of King Saul's small act of disobedience, it cost him a great thing-- the whole kingdom.

King Saul had a prophet, Samuel, who heard from God and instructed him on how to serve God and lead the people. Samuel instructed King Saul to go to place, called Gigal and wait 7 days untilĀ heĀ arrived. Then they wouldĀ provide an offeringĀ to GodĀ and to get further instructions. (1 Samuel 10:8).

Saul was obedient in one part-- going to Gigal. He and his army men were to go into battle with their enemies there. The situation was not looking good for King Saul and his men, because the army of their enemies was much larger.Ā

King Saul's men were getting very, very antsy and nervous because the odds of winning the battle wereĀ not in their favor. So, Saul took matters into his owns and went ahead and gave an offering to God without Samuel, thinking that this would give him browning points to win the battle.Ā

As soon as he finished giving the offering Samuel rolled up and said, "OMG what have you done?!"Ā (1 Samuel 13:1-14)

"You have done a foolish thing,ā€ Samuel said. ā€œYou have not keptĀ the command theĀ LordĀ your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.Ā

But now your kingdomĀ will not endure; theĀ LordĀ has sought out a man after his own heartĀ and appointedĀ him rulerĀ of his people, because you have not keptĀ theĀ Lordā€™s command.ā€(Ā 1 Samuel 13:13-14Ā ).Ā

Because of one seemingly insignificant act of disobedience, King Saul literally lost everything, just like that.

Also, mind you, King Saul performed this premature offering on the 7th day (Samuel said King Saul should wait 7 days for his arrival). If he had only waiting a bit longer, he would have been okay.Ā

As we finish out 2020, I want us to be reminded that yes, it is great to make goals and New Year's resolutions, but also take out some time to hear from God about what he has planned for your life. Listen to His voice as He leads to you and guides you. Be patient and wait on His instruction in the big decisions and even in the small ones. The plans that He has for your life are bigger and better than anything you could have ever imagined (Ephesians 3:20)! His plans for you areĀ to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). I trust that as we heed to the voice of God and become more and more obedient to His instructions, 2020 and all subsequent years will be nothing short of spectacular!

Wishing you all a beautiful ending of 2020!! The rest of 2020 is going to be a great year. Set goals, be consistent, listen to the voice of God and trust in Him!! I am learning to do the same!

Fun Facts About Jenn Jenn

Is it just me or do you have to take food out of the microwave only on even numbers and finish pumping your gas so that it ends on a 10 digit intervals only? I literally will keep pumping the gas even though the automatic click went off letting me know its full so I can get the gas to land at 29.90 rather than 29.85. Haha.
