Keep My %!$# Out Yo Mouth

Although I don't approve with what Will did ā€” like at all šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøā€” this is the type of energy we need to be carrying in certain situations.

Keep reading to see what I mean.

Y'all know that verse that says life and death lies in the power of the tongue.

-Proverbs 18:21

That means the words you speak have some serious power-- to produce life šŸ’ or deathāŒšŸ’€.

The words you speak can make things that were on track and succeeding to suddenly derail and go off course.

The words you speak can turn a super negative, hopeless situation all the way up!

In the Book of Exodus, God tells Moses that he will bring the Children of God (the Israelites) out of bondage and into the Land of Milk and Honey (aka The Promise Land aka The Land of Canaan).

-Exodus 3:17

And since we know God is a God of His word, what He says should surely come to pass, right?

-Numbers 23:19

But similar to contracts we sign to establish an agreement, so are the promises of God. He signs on the dotted line and so must WE.

We can literally cancel out the blessings of God by not signing on the dotted line next to our name, as God did.

And that is exactly what we saw with the Children of God.

Check this out in the Book of Numbers.

šŸ‘‡šŸ¾šŸ‘‡šŸ¾šŸ‘‡šŸ¾

God instructions Moses to "send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I [God] am giving to the Israelites"

-Numbers 13:2

So the Israelites went to The Promise Land, but they came back with words of death āŒšŸ’€. The Israelites said,

"We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! But the people who live there are powerful āŒšŸ’€, and the cities are fortified and very large āŒšŸ’€...We canā€™t attack those people; they are stronger than we are āŒšŸ’€."

And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, ā€œThe land we explored devours those living in it āŒšŸ’€. All the people we saw there are of great size āŒšŸ’€... We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them. āŒšŸ’€ā€

-Numbers 13:27-28, 31-33

I mean death was being spoken left and right. It was literally like they took the contract God signed and just ripped it up. Nulifying and voiding the whole situation. šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

And it doesn't end there. The Israelites continue. šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„

"If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! āŒšŸ’€ Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? āŒšŸ’€ Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. āŒšŸ’€ Wouldnā€™t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?ā€ āŒšŸ’€

-Numbers 14:2-3

Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh...said... ā€œThe land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good šŸ’. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us šŸ’... do not be afraid of the people of the land šŸ’, because we will devour themšŸ’. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of themšŸ’.ā€

-Numbers 14:7-9

Joshua and Caleb believed the report of the Lord. God signed His name on the contract and they followed up with their fat signatures too. God, Josh and Caleb shook on it!! šŸ«±šŸ¾ā€šŸ«²šŸæ

So y'all, guess what God did. He gave the Israelites what they asked for and Josh and Caleb the same.

God said:

"Not one of them [The Israelites who didn't believe His promises] will ever see the land I promised...As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very thing I heard you say...In this wilderness your bodies will fallā€”every one of you"

"But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it. Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness."

-Numbers 14:23-24, 28-29, 33

So, when Will foolishly acted out, slapped Chris rock and said "Keep my wife's name out yo f**ckin' mouth." We need to take that same energy, but apply it to more appropriate situations. Keep negative, death producing words out of our mouths so that we do not nullify the awesome, BIG promises God has for us.

Take some time this week and reflect on the things God has promised you. Write then down and meditate on them, speak life over them! It WILL come to pass! šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾

XOXO,

Jenn
